Ever wonder what techniques there are to facilitate an organization’s learning atmosphere? In his book “NGO Leadership and Human Rights,” Richard K. Ghere suggested that the collective learning experience is crucial to a successful workplace.
If an organization is en-route to planning and generating creative options for development, then there needs to be a set of practical ground rules and techniques. There are always problems that arise in the workplace that may complicate the planning process. It is important that everyone works together and shares their ideas for full functionality of the learning experience. Ghere pools a lot of his techniques from other sources, such as Ben Ramalingam. His suggestions are as follows:
1. Start by one member presenting the problem;
2. Other members offer constructive questions to coax out alternative views and perspectives;
3. New understandings (if generated);
4. Test in workplace;
5. Bring results back to the group; and,
6. Draw conclusions about a new learning; put it into practice or revert back to step 1.
