The CEO of One & All is out along with nearly 15 percent of the staff at the Pasadena, Calif.-based fundraising agency.

Alan Hall left the company, effective yesterday, according to an announcement today by the firm that was created by a 2017 merger of Russ Reid and Grizzard, part of the international agency Omnicom Group.

Chief Growth Officer Kevin White will assume senior operational responsibility of One & All, supported by Chief Operating Officer Beau Hebert and Chief Financial Officer Allen Kang, as a search is conducted for a successor to Hall.

Coinciding with Hall’s departure was a reduction in force of 32 positions, almost 15 percent of the staff. There were approximately 226 employees as of August 2019, based on LinkedIn data, excluding subsidiaries. The cuts were distributed across departments and offices, including the Pasadena, Calif. headquarters, Los Angeles, Atlanta and Toronto.

In a prepared statement, White said One & All reduced staff “in response to marketplace shifts and business realignments, which the firm believes will create a strong financial foundation” for the future of the company.

“While difficult, we believe that this realignment will position the company to thrive both financially and operationally,” he said. “Our top priority remains working with our clients to ensure strong fundraising performance, while building the technology and operational capabilities necessary to support their future growth.”

A spokesman for One & All said the firm does not comment publicly on clients but the company had lost at least one major client earlier this year. After years with Russ Reid and One & All, The Salvation Army, Eastern Territory, which covers the northeastern United States, announced in June that it had selected Richardson, Texas-based RKD Group as agency of record to provide “direct mail fundraising, marketing and data management, advanced analytics and business intelligence services.”

Hall had led One & All since it was borne from the merger of two of the nation’s foundational fundraising agencies, Russ Reid and Grizzard, by parent company, DAS Group of Companies (DAS), part of Omnicom Group. The combined firm was named One & All in early 2018 after an extensive re-branding effort in partnership with a global branding firm to define the combined agency.

Since the merger of Russ Reid and Grizzard, One & All lost several executives to Tulsa, Okla.-based Moore DM Group (MDMG). Lois Ephraim, formerly vice president and executive creative director at Russ Reid, left in 2017 and is now chief creative strategist of MDMG. Lisa Scott Benson was the first chief strategy officer and then served as president of One & All until joining CDR Fundraising Group as CEO in April 2018. She was followed by Chief Client Officer Steve Harrison, who left in June to become president of CDR as the firm builds a West Coast presence.
