Understanding the mechanisms that guide our minds is one of the most challenging problems in modern scientific research. The mission of the Allen Institute for Brain Science is to accelerate our understanding of how the brain works in health and disease. As part of this mission, scientists collect massive amounts of data, which is publicly released to help accelerate research in the field of neuroscience.
As the landscape of neuroscience has changed, the Allen Institute has had to change alongside it. Join Lydia Ng, Ph.D., Investigator at the Allen Institute for Brain Science as she walks us through the phases of her data sharing strategy. Massive datasets can be challenging to share, so the Allen Institute uses the cloud to share them around the world. Cloud technology helps them to accelerate the rate at which the world understands the inner workings of the brain and to uncover the essence of what makes us human.
In this session, you’ll come away with a better understanding of:
-How nonprofits can work with AWS to realize impact and outcomes through a data and technology strategy
-An example of how one nonprofit organization defines its data sets, and built a strategy to get insights from that data
-Ways in which your nonprofit organization can continue to evolve and solve new challenges with technology
