United Way Opens For-Profit Digital Arm
United Way Worldwide (UWW) launched a for-profit subsidiary, UpPurpose, a cloud-based technology platform and creative agency designed to meet the content needs of nonprofits and the social good sector.
UpPurpose will provide a full suite of content services — from multi-platform digital campaign creation to real-time data-driven campaign performance analysis — for local United Ways, nonprofits, foundations, corporate social responsibility organizations and other social enterprises, UWW announced.
UpPurpose is based in Denver, Colo., and comprises a team of writers, developers, designers, and strategists, who elevate stories of need and impact that resonate with donors and help organizations meet fundraising goals. United Way launched UpPurpose as the latest in its digital transformation that includes last year’s launch of Salesforce Philanthropy Cloud.
“United Way has been on a journey to transform the traditional models of giving and fundraising, and the launch of UpPurpose is a ground-breaking step for us as we work to better connect and engage with donors, and illustrate how their support impacts the causes they care about,” said UWW CEO Brian Gallagher. “We are excited by the creation of UpPurpose.”
UpPurpose began providing content for select local United Ways in 2018, and drove results for key giving campaigns including a 350 percent increase in United Way’s #GivingTuesday campaign; and a 20-fold increase in end-of-year giving compared to 2017 efforts for those United Ways.
CrowdRise Adds Functionality
CrowdRise by GoFundMe, the social fundraising platform, released mobile-first registration and ticketing features to all users on its platform.
The new registration and ticketing solution allows nonprofits and individuals who fundraise on their behalf to start events and raise money while leveraging peer-to-peer fundraising capabilities, according to the firm.
Fundraisers can create events with core registration and ticketing features: Create and manage events from any device; Motivate participants by setting a fundraising commitment for the amount that must be raised by a specific date; Ensure that fundraising commitments are met for any event; Offers supporters the option to cover all fees associated with any ticket option. More than 90 percent of donors cover fees when given the option; and, Incentivize donors to make a purchase by showing the portion of a ticket option that is tax deductible, while specifying what is not.

Blackbaud Brings JustGiving Platform To U.S.
Blackbaud (NASDAQ: BLKB) announced the U.S. launch of its peer-to-peer fundraising solution, which does not have a subscription cost. Blackbaud Peer-to-Peer Fundraising, powered by JustGiving, allows supporters to fundraise on behalf of charities.
Blackbaud acquired JustGiving in 2017. JustGiving has operated in 160 countries and helped to raise $5.5 billion. At the time of the acquisition, Blackbaud official said they wanted to provides intuitive peer-to-peer fundraising designed for both organizations and individuals.
It becomes part of the Blackbaud Peer-to-Peer Fundraising group.
