Salesforce.org Launches Nonprofit Cloud-Based System

Salesforce.org, the philanthropic arm of the San Francisco, Calif.-based tech company, has unveiled Salesforce.org Nonprofit Cloud. The product is more robust than the company’s existing nonprofit customer relationship management (CRM) platform, including fundraising, programs-management, and constituent-engagement capabilities, according to the firm.

“There’s a tremendous market need for nonprofit technology that provides a solution from the typical siloed systems,” Rob Acker, CEO, said in an email. “Nonprofit Cloud represents an even bigger commitment from Salesforce.org to commit our resources and work with the growing needs of the sector beyond a data model and basic building blocks for donation management.”

Nonprofit Cloud was built on the existing CRM platform and was developed using input from more than 30,000 nonprofit customers, according to the firm. Product features include artificial intelligence and improved data storage and customization capabilities. Users will also have access to the “Power of Us” hub for new insights and trainings, according to Acker.

Salesforce Einstein artificial intelligence is featured in the product to provide insight on program opportunities, how development officers should allocate time, and individual donors’ propensity to give. An example, according the company announcement, is identifying activities in which an individual is most likely to engage based on his or her volunteer history.

Additional features include Lightning Batch Gift entry to allow for quick data entry and related customization and Data Storage Optimizer, which allows for easy access to archived data with which to create reports. An AppExchange enables users to incorporate additional solutions created by independent software vendors to complement Nonprofit Cloud.

“The ability to measure how well they are delivering on their mission is critical to improving their outcomes and reporting on their success,” said Acker when asked about the strategy behind the product’s features. “We’re focusing on delivering technology solutions and services that solve these types of tough problems for nonprofits, and our Einstein Analytics framework is part of the solution that helps nonprofits measure their programs and report on their mission outcomes.”
