The seventh annual North Texas Giving Day once again broke records, this time raising almost $33.1 million during an 18-hour period on Sept. 17.
Sponsored by the Communities Foundation of Texas in Dallas, #NTXGivingDay garnered 118,663 gifts totaling $33,092,687 for an average gift of almost $279. The $33 million is 25 percent than the $26.3 million raised during last year’s event and more than twice the amount raised in 2012.
The first six North Texas Giving Day events generated $86 million for local nonprofits, including $26.3 million from more than 98,000 gifts last year among 1,580 nonprofits:

Just more than 2,000 nonprofits participated this year, celebrating the 18-hour day of fundraising with community-wide events at donation stations in Dallas, Arlington, Denton, Forth Worth and Collin County, including performances, music, theater, dancing, kids’ activities and more.
Six organizations reported more than 1,000 gifts, led by KERA TV Channel 13, KERA 90.1, KXT 91.7 and ArtandSeek.org, with 2,674 gifts.
Five organizations eclipsed $400,000, including two that raised nearly a half-million dollars. Cistercian Preparatory School reported $486,575 raised from 584 total gifts while North Texas Food Bank reported $482,430 from 2,446 gifts.
Estimates do not include bonus or prize funds awarded throughout the day, for things like most unique donors during a certain time of day, nonprofits with the largest increase in donors, or other random drawings. The figures will continue to adjust as refunds and adjustments are processed for 45 days. An accurate overall total is expected after Nov. 16.
Donors were offered the option of covering the 5.62 percent processing fees.
