You read the headline correctly and it isn’t wrong. While the National Football League (NFL) will crown this year’s champion on Sunday, charities are again in the wagering mood. The defending Super Bowl Champion Seattle Seahawks take on three-time Super Bowl Champion New England Patriots in Super Bowl XLIX (49).

The Seattle Art Museum (SAM), which last year talked smack on Twitter with the Denver Art Museum (DAM) all week leading up to the big game, has entered a high-stakes wager on the game. If the Seahawks win, the Williamstown, Mass.-based Clark Art Institute will loan Winslow Homer’s 1900 oil on canvas, “West Point, Prout’s Neck.”

If the Patriots let the air out of that attempt, SAM will send Clark the 1870 oil on canvas “Puget Sound on the Pacific Coast,” by Albert Bierstadt.

Last year, SAM was victorious in its bet with Denver Art Museum, securing The Broncho Buster, a nearly 2-foot bronze sculpture cast by Frederic Remington in 1902 from DAM’s western American art collection, for three months. The two developed the Twitter hashtag #SAMvDAM while this year it’s been dubbed #MuseumBowl.

Super Bowl wagers between participating city’s mayors or state’s governors have become routine. Other charity-related friendly bets on this year’s big game include:

• Public television station WGBH in Boston will send lobsters from the Gulf of Maine should the Seahawks prevail but if the Patriots come out on top, Seattle public television station KCTS has promised to ship salmon from the famous Pike Place Market.
• The Seattle Foundation is sponsoring a “Charity Challenge,” asking people to like the foundation’s Facebook page and guess the final score of the game, and as a potential tiebreaker also predict how many carries Seahawks running back Marshawn Lynch will have. The winner will get to choose a qualified King County nonprofit to receive a $4,900 donation from the foundation. If there are no winners, a random drawing will be held from among all eligible entries.
• “Captain America” actor Chris Evans is pulling for the Patriots and challenged Seattle fan Chris Pratt, star of the “Guardians of the Galaxy” movie. The two will appear in character at respective children’s hospitals depending on who wins: Evans will visit Seattle Children’s Hospital as “Captain America” if the Seahawks repeat while Pratt will make an appearance as “Star Lord” at Christopher’s Haven in Boston.

Super Bowl XLIX will kick off at 6:30 p.m. on Sunday in University of Phoenix Stadium in Glendale, Ariz.
