Community Brands Buys Deeper Into Nonprofit Events Market

The acquisitions have been funded by Insight Venture Partners, a capital and private equity firm that invests in software and Internet-enabled companies. Technology-based private equity firm Accel-KKR sold a majority stake in Abila software to Insight in April 2017, which it bought from Sage Software in 2013. Sage Nonprofit Solutions (NPS) was rebranded as Abila after a $101.2-million deal. The nonprofit element was the largest segment of three in the deal.
The Community Brands umbrella was created and initially included Abila, YourMembership and Aptify. There are now approximately 2,000 employees in the Community Brands network of firms.
Terms of this latest deal were not disclosed. Expo Logic is a global event technology company.
The addition of Expo Logic strengthens the Community Brands event management suite, which includes event registration, mobile event fundraising and conference content video capture. The Expo Logic solution and the Community Brands integration, with additional solutions around event registration, mobile event fundraising and conference content video capture, gives the firm an end-to-end suite of event management for face-to-face events, said Michael A. Piotrowski, public relations / media relations manager for Community Brands.
Asked about customer overlap, Piotrowski said, “in many parts, we have discreet customers. In other parts, there’s a 15 percent to 20 percent overlap.” Jeff Cooper, president and CEO of Expo Logic, located in East Norriton, Pa., near Philadelphia, will become senior vice president and general manager of event technology applications at Community Brands.
Expo Logic recently provided event registration and on-site facial recognition check-in for nearly 1,500 attendees at Xperience 2018, the annual Community Brands technology conference for the social good community. Back in December, Community Brands acquired three prominent online fundraising auction firms in the charitable space, 501 Auctions and Gesture and with an agreement in place to acquire GiveSmart.
