As the glitz and glamour of Hollywood award shows seemingly fill up every weekend from now until the Oscars, charities in the United Kingdom are joining in on the fun. Thirty-two films and videos produced by or for British nonprofits were selected as finalists for the Charity Film Awards last week.

The finalists were chosen by public voting and will be further parsed down by a panel of judges in February before winners are announced in March.

The Charity Film Awards, launched in 2016, were created in recognition of the growing power video content in the charitable sector. The awards are free to enter and are open to all registered charities and Community Interest Companies in the UK. The awards are organized by For Good Events Ltd.

The event is also intended to increase exposure for the charities and videos, according to the awards’ website. The voting process to narrow the 350 entrants to a final 32 took place from mid-October to mid-December 2017. The videos received an estimated 250,000 additional page views and 2 million impressions during that time. About 10 percent of voters also made a donation.

The 32 finalists are made up of four videos in each of eight categories. Six of the categories feature videos under five minutes in length and are broken up by annual organizational revenue 0- £10,000 up to £50 million and greater. Long-form videos are divided into two categories, for organizations with under £5 million in revenue and those with £5 million or more. The full list of finalist can be viewed on the awards’ website.

The March announcement of this year’s winners will be held during a red-carpet, black-tie ceremony in London. A date and precise venue have not yet been announced. The 2017 awards were held at the British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA) in Piccadilly, London.
