The Tufts Health Plan Foundation’s Healthy Aging Grants Program seeks to fund programs that help older adults live healthier lives. The Program is divided into three categories: Health & Wellness, Purposeful Engagement, and Empowerment. The Purposeful Engagement category is designed to help older adults engage in their communities and/or with other generations as well as find encore careers and volunteer opportunities. An important part of the foundation’s Purposeful Engagement program area is Caregiver Support.

Since the foundation began focusing its grantmaking on healthy aging, it has given nearly $12 million to nonprofits that elevate the physical, mental and emotional well-being of older adults and their caregivers. Cycle 1, 2013 grants included $1.6 million in new funding to 34 Massachusetts and Rhode Island-based organizations.
