Management Tips » Ethics

Ethics are the underlying rules that guide the conduct of a nonprofit’s employees. All nonprofits will have a code of ethics that their employees must follow, or risk termination. Ethics are especially important for nonprofits because they rely so much on the public. If there is a breach of trust between the organization and the public, it can spell big trouble. Donors are much more likely to give to an organization they trust than one that they don’t trust. A good way for any nonprofit to start doing this is to have a culture of transparency. Confidentiality is also a big issue in nonprofit ethics.
