Nonprofit communications generally fall into two categories: traditional media and social media. Although traditional media still has its value, nonprofits are increasingly relying on the Internet to get the messages out. Sites such as Twitter and Facebook allow nonprofits to reach new audiences, effectively expanding their sphere of influence. This technology has also made it easier to track the effectiveness of outreach. For communications to be successful, the plan must have measurable objectives.
